Assistance for Non-Profit Organizations

SCORE and SBDC have a separate handout on how to form a non-profit organization. There are State of Tennessee requirements and Federal requirements. The State distinguishes between organizations that are going to solicit donations for charitable purposes and those do not. The IRS lists more than 30 different types of tax-exempt organizations. Our handout covers only how to form a Section 501(c)(3) organization. The following information provides assistance to those managing a non-profit organization.
