Surviving in Tough Economic Times

Growing the Profitability of Your Existing Business

It seems as though overwhelming information about the poor economy is endless, but where is the information on how to survive during this hard time? SCORE has implemented a series of business workshops, which will cover specific topics related to survival in a down economy.

SCORE is a national non-profit organization devoted to educating entrepreneurs on the formation, growth, and success of small business owners. SCORE understands the hardships of conducting a business and living comfortably in a poor economy. Therefore, SCORE is now addressing specific business issues that are associated with today's situation in order to offer counsel to future entrepreneurs and existing business owners.

On Tuesday April 28, 2009, the lunchtime business workshops, sponsored by ORNL Credit Union, will kick off at noon and last until 2 p.m. at the Roane Alliance Building in Kingston, Tenn. Lunch and refreshments will be provided as well.

Dana Peterka, Roane Chamber board member and former Chairman of the Greater Knoxville SCORE Chapter, will be conducting a workshop called, "Surviving in Tough Economic Times by Growing the Profitability of Your Existing Business." He will be joined by Don Griffin, SCORE Vice Chair and business turnaround specialist. Griffin and Peterka will be available to answer any questions at the end of the seminar.

This seminar is part of a workshop series. Other topics that will be covered later in the series are "Technology: New Tools to Grow Your Sales and Reduce Your Costs," "Focus on Where Your Profit Is by Using Your Competitive Advantage" and "Negotiating the Best Deals for Your Company."

The workshops are free to future and existing business owners. The charge for non-Chamber members is $35, and there is no fee for Roane County Chamber members. Seats are limited, so please make a reservation today by contacting the Roane County Chamber at 865-376-5572.
